So you want to raid…

EQ2 DracolichOften times veteran raiders like myself forget that an entire new generation of players is joining us in MMOs. We forget that the things we take for granted in raiding might not be so apparent to the uninitiated. Over time I’ve seen a lot of “how to raid” guides but I generally feel they leave something to be desired. I’ve come up with a quick and dirty list for anyone who is about to embark on their first raid. Follow these instructions and you’ll probably survive the affair! (more…)

Make a difference in EQ2

Guild Leader FerrelI realize that my title may be a bit misleading for some of you but it is meant with the best of intentions. I am announcing that Iniquity of Oasis is looking for one player to join our ranks as we ramp up for the Sentinel’s Fate launch. We’re seeking a guardian to act as our co-main tank. This role will play a large part in the success of the guild and the chosen player can expect to be an integral part of our organization. We want someone who can compliment Buuncha, plays professionally, and can still take positive direction. If you’re looking for a new home where you matter we might just be the place for you. (more…)

A View from the Top Episode Three

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

EQ2 Vampire FerrelKaren and I have been working on “A View from the Top” for a while now. After she lost her original co-host she asked if I would like to step in and I agreed. We then recorded a few shows and never managed to get them posted on the old hosting. That lead to us making the move to Vagary TV. Ryan has been so kind there and I want to say I truly appreciate it. As of today I’ve cobbled together another website and put our first (and the third over all) episode online. (more…)

All I want for Sentinel’s Fate

Guild Leader FerrelIn many ways a new MMO expansion is like Christmas time. The launch date is filled with wonder, excitement and hope. Every player has things on their list that they would really like to see and I am no different. Though I realize that it is far too late to make any sweeping changes to Sentinel’s Fate, it is still a lot of fun to talk about what I would like to see in it. So if you’re an Everquest II developer you will make me an extremely happy guild leader if you do anything on my list! (more…)

Guild recruiting for the rest of us

Prickle can recruitIf there is anywhere that I am deficient as a guild leader it is in the recruitment department. It is the one aspect that I simply do not want to do and I am not very good at it. During my Iniquity days I was fortunate enough to have Thax who was, without a doubt, the finest recruiter on the face of the planet. Now that I’ve given you that little bit of information you might think, “Then why on earth would I want to learn recruitment from you?” Despite my distaste for the work I do have a good grasp of how recruitment works and how to do it right. Here are some tips that work for those of us who might not be as silver tongued as my esteemed colleague Thax. (more…)

MMO Raids, is twelve the new twenty-four?

Friday, December 11th, 2009

MMO drolvarg EQ2In the WoW: Wrath of the Lich King expansion players were treated to a lot of two group content. This was due in part to how popular Karazhan proved to be. Similarly, I’ve found that the developers of EverQuest II have created a two group instance, the Ward of Elements. It is also quite popular with the players, myself included. At Dragon*Con the question was posed to Brenlo as to if more such content would make a future appearance and he said yes, he expected so. That leads me to ask the question, “What is the big deal with two group content?” Why is it all the rage? What are the benefits to having it around? (more…)
