And then they baaaaaanned me!

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

World of Warcraft“And then they banned me” is sung to the tune of “I did it my way” as popularized by Frank Sinatra. Just kidding, I’m not actually going to sing for you today. Perhaps one day on one of my podcasts. I have been working on Dr. Horrible’s sing along songs lately. You may remember that just a few days back I wrote a story about how my WoW account had been hacked. I mentioned that the usual “it is your fault” stuff wouldn’t fly. I have an update to that story (more…)

Changing direction

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Guild Leader FerrelLately I just haven’t been able to interest myself in topics related to MMO design. I can’t exactly explain why but I think it has a lot to do with me being content in life. I’m back playing EQ2 and nothing about it really riles me up enough to take something to task. At the same time the reformed Iniquity is pretty well on target and is not giving me inspiration to write about how to lead a guild. If anything kills motivation to do something it is success I suppose. I believe I want to take Epic Slant in a slightly different direction. (more…)

ISPs and MMOs aren’t friends

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Khallid down!Today I have more of a random thought than an actual planned post. As MMO players we are generally at the mercy of our ISPs when it comes to our ability to enjoy the games we want to play. A poor or absent connection leaves us with little to no option other than frustration. This is obviously something that is no surprise or mystery to any of you but it does tie into the broadband policy that the FCC is putting together. What they decide could drastically effect those of us with slow or virtually absent connections and bring a lot more of new markets into the industry. (more…)

The Multiverse Episode 2

MMO FerrelAs if we were professionals Chris, Riknas and I recorded our second podcast right on schedule! This time around we did a better job of avoiding extreme tangents and really focused in on our talking points so if you haven’t really checked out The Multiverse now is the time to get in! That way, when we go triple platinum, you can say (more…)

Moving on up!

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Guild Leader FerrelI generally don’t delve too much into my personal life here on Epic Slant but sometimes it is unavoidable. I believe you guys would notice if I just up and disappeared for a few weeks. At least I like to think so! That is exactly what is going to happen though. You see I was offered a great promotion opportunity with my company and I accepted it. Unfortunately with my promotion comes a move and that means a lot of things going on for a while. I’m making an effort to write as many articles as humanly possible this week and keep a reserve but I can only do so much. With that in mind I thought I’d offer anyone an opportunity to write on Epic Slant that was willing to do so! If you’re interested email me, DM me on Twitter or send me a PM on the ES Forums. Thank you all in advance, have a great holiday season and see you next year.

MMO Blog Alliance 2009 Charity Drive

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Guild Leader FerrelThe holidays are almost upon us again and this year the MMO Blogging Alliance wants to help ensure a good season for all! We’ve decided to pull together and encourage our readers to donate to those less fortunate. It has been a tough year for many families across the world and a little boost can go a long way. Please consider donating to one of the many charities that we recommend or one you select on your own. If you’re a blogger and would like to participate in our drive, it is as easy as writing a post, including this at the top, linking to the other posts, and picking a charity to donate to. Let’s show everyone that in 2009 the MMO community can make a positive difference in the world!

For Epic Slant I’ve selected Child’s Play as my 2009 charity to sponsor. This charity (more…)
