Iniquity has marched into Drowned Halls, slaughtered the inhabitants, and taken all of the treasures that were found within. Why does that matter for you? It means it is time for strategy guides on the various bosses. The raid zone isn’t overly difficult but it is one of the most entertaining experiences we’ve had in a while. Today I’m going to focus on the first boss, Assault Commander Job. He is a large lizard with control issues.
Roles
Main Tank – Assault Commander Jorb is a “tank and spank” encounter with only a minor twist. You need to have a main tank that is capable of reading system messages and reacting to them immediately. The main tank must also be able to strafe 120 degrees to the left (or right) and deal with a knockback.
Mechanics
Stand at attention – During the fight Assault Commander Jorb will bring up a system message calling a specific player in the raid to stand at attention. That player will be pulled right in front of the boss and rooted. If Jorb is not turned 120 (or so) degrees to the right as soon as that name comes up the called out player will be destroyed by a frontal cleave. Break free can be used to clear the root.
You cannot hide – Assault Commander Jorb is a big fan of name calling. He’ll also call out specific players and state that they cannot hide. The player that is chosen will be feared. This effect can be cured.
Knockback – Jorb has a frontal knockback that will move the tank around a bit. It is fairly mild but should be noted.
Strategy
Defeating Assault Commander Jorb comes down to the ability to see the system message and turn him. By turning him the tank will be the only person that takes the frontal cleave. The DPS must also be able to move at the same time in the same direction.
1. Generally our tank begins on the side of Jorb opposite where the healers and DPS stand. The tank engages and thus puts the bosses back to the raid.
2. The tank waits for Jorb to call a player to stand at attention.
3. The tank strafes 120 degrees to the left (or right if you prefer) and the DPS follows suit.
4. Repeat steps two and three until Assault Commander Jorb is dead.
If you can do this in three minutes there is an achievement!

Good guide, my guild does it a bit differently, but same idea. I play a warrior DPS durring this fight (although i’m the guilds OT).
Basically we have the tank pull him so his side is always to the support/raid (in your picture), so the MT and DPS would rotate 90 degrees in your diagram, that way he is never facing the raid.
Then what we do is when he emotes stand at attention, the tank runs between his legs, and the dps runs between his legs, forcing him to flip, so basically the tank and melee are swaping positions. That way there’s no strafeing or running in a circle, it’s just a straight run through and then turn around and go back to beating on him. The person who is summoned should do nothing, if they are melee or dps turn your back to the mob. This usually will keep him from cleaving you (since stand at attention means do nothing in the script). Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t on the not doing anything, but it works enough for me to recommend to my raid to do it in case the tank is slow at getting him flipped.
The knockback will simply knock the tank parallel to where the healers are (since the side of the mob is facing them) instead of being knocked towards or away. But otherwise yeah same strat
And you forgot that his enrage timer goes off at 5 mins
I had forgotten about the enrage timer!
We did the leg running thing for a while. For some reason we had people get hit by that still. Might have just been our guys though.
Instead of turning the boss, my guild came up with a tactic of simply having the tank and Melee dps run threw Jorb instead.
Both Melee dps and the tank run threw Jorb at the same time. Jorb faces the towards the tank and the melee dps ends up behind Jorb again. The reason we prefered this method of turning the boss over strafing the boss was this way requires less movement on the part of dps and the tank to pull off correctly. For instance when I dps Jorb I can push down both mouse buttons to run threw and never have to move my fingers from my hotkeys.
