The Podcast update

Aldest ThaneIt always feels good to stay on a schedule and I’m back on one when it comes to podcasts. We’ve had some really great shows lately on a View from the Top and the Multiverse. I’ve been in rare form playing the character of “Uncle Ferrel” on one and being myself on the other! If you haven’t listened lately I highly recommend picking it back up! Check out the latest episode of the Multiverse or View from the Top today! We are still looking for guild leadership questions on View! Be kind and submit some won’t you?

  1. Two great episodes, and two comments:

    - I’m not convinced that success in contested raid content necessarily implies superior skill. Yes, it requires a certain baseline of skill to beat encounters with whatever players you happen to have on hand. Competitive guilds are going to boot the unskilled, and skilled players are going to seek out the top guilds, so there will be a correlation between skill and competitive success. However, superior skill alone does not CAUSE the competitive guild to be successful; there are potentially any number of other guilds who possess the skill to beat the encounter with the same group, but will never have the chance because they’re not willing to sleep with Vent on so their guildies can shout at them to wake up if a mob spawns. This is a measure of dedication and competitiveness, but not skill. If anything, the guild that has been farming the contested mobs for weeks may be less skilled than the guild that sneaks in a single kill sometime, because the top guild will have superior-quality contested loot and greater experience fighting the mob.

    - Dear Ferrel, please crank up the volume on your mic. I’ve suffered ear strain on both shows by cranking up the volume so I can hear you, only to be blasted out the next time one of your co-hosts says something. :P
