This year I took a new camera to Fan Faire so that I wouldn’t end up without any memories. We had an amazing time and took a lot of great photos! Much to my pleasure the camera worked out well I remembered to carry it. My guild mate Dev also did a stellar job of getting pictures when I wasn’t. Thank you Dev, you’re my hero! We took a ton of photos and I know there are a lot of general Fan Faire ones out there. These are more focused on our experience. I hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed being idiots in them!

We had a great time at Fan Faire and were glad to meet so many other players. I’m looking forwards to seeing everyone again next year or at Dragon*Con this year! If you’re going to attend and want to meet me please let me know! We’ll set a time and a place!

If I ever get to the point where interstate travel for an MMO-related convention is a realistic option, I think I’d like SOE’s FanFaire best of the bunch. I’m sure Blizzcon is great, but it’s so huge that you don’t get any news that you couldn’t have gotten online and it’s so sold-out that you won’t be able to hang with your friends because they won’t have gotten tickets.
I have to totally agree about fan faire. If you ever want to attend a con, this one is it. It has the odd mix of feeling both local and global once you get in there. Extremely close access to the developers and staff, coupled with meeting so many fellow players, makes it feel like some freaky MMO family reunion.
You also really get the sense of community and just how varied the group of people who play MMOs are. Sure, it can be a nerdfest, but those nerds come from all over the world and all walks of life. Oh, and most of us can drink like fish!
