Playing an MMORPG can often be a progression from one state of being to another. In a way it is almost like a twelve step program. I’m pretty sure I’ve been through them all and enjoy viewing others going through them. I laugh any time someone calls, emails or IMs and says, “Oh my God! How did you put up with this so long? I know you told me but I never understood!” I just smile and nod. Grandpa knows. Enjoy the life cycle of a raider!

Yes, I giggle!

That’s freakin’ awesome! lol.
I am in a high end raiding guild, and pretty much have been raiding since the game has begun, that’s about as elite as I feel. Sure at the beginning of the expansions we wave our virtual wee-wee’s and woo-hoo’s at our server first kills and loots, but generally, most folks in our guild are as laid back as you can get.
Great diagram! I’m sort of in the “Veteran MMO player wants to raid again” stage myself but then I look back at all those long nights of wanting to peel away from my PC but couldn’t because the “guild needs me!” Hah.
Anyway. Much respect to those out there who can sustain an elite mindset for longer than 2-3 years but eventually life comes calling and 98% of us pack our things and call it a day. It’s a viscous life-cycle that prays on the young adult population of our planet. Reminiscing about the “good old days” is always bittersweet for us old farts however…
I miss EQ!!! HAHA
