I’ve been a member of a little known forum for quite some time now called 38 Watch. It was one of those amazingly intelligent and reasonable communities that you hear so much about but rarely see. The group there discussed MMO design, talked about 38 Studios and generally had a good time. More or less it was what I hoped to one day mirror on the Epic Slant forums. While I’ve been in Germany something seems to have happened!
I went to check out 38 Watch the other day and the site now has a Godaddy parked domain page. This really makes me concerned. Other players that I knew had memberships over there are experiencing the same thing. I can’t imagine Union just pulling up shop without notice, that just doesn’t seem like him. Does anyone know what happened to the Watch? Any news would be greatly appreciated!
Update: Union has responded and it looks like we’ve got an unfortunate situation right now. Stay tuned.

Ferrel,
Union here. Welcome to my worst nightmare. Without delving into the ugly details of my current situation, I’ll say that 38 Watch has been obliterated by my web-design partner, on the eve of our 2-year anniversary. A chronically unreliable (ex-)associate of mine has left me with nothing, save a lapsed vbulletin license, and a cleaned out server.
Reviving 38 Watch is my number one priority. I am deeply invested in our community and this setback has thrown me for quite a loop. You can be assured that I am making every effort to bring the Watch back online ASAP, and I will certainly keep you updated.
Cheers, from the midst of a 48-hour panic attack,
Dale. (Union)
Looks like we are still in the dark as no one knows what happened.
Could be the owner forgot to renew the domain name. Domains don’t expire anymore, they just get snapped up by people who park them.
Sorry to hear that Union. Hopefully you’ll get it worked it out. I do enjoy your site.
