Folks I have to be honest and admit I didn’t finish my article in time for today. Many of you might not know this but I do a lot of my thinking and drafting while at work. It lets me shift my focus and, believe it or not, helps me achieve my job goals. We’ve been so busy lately, however, that my usual thought process has been quite disrupted. I have been working on a long article for today and just now got it to Dresden for editing. I also want to do some revision and tighten it up.
In the mean time as penance for my crime of not getting my article for you ready by this morning I am going to share with you some of the awesome blog posts that have been written this weekend or today. With any luck I will get my article out later this evening!
Br3ntbr0 from wall of texts suggests that we reserve our judgment about MMOs until after we play them. What?! I can’t say Aion is awesome without experiencing more than five levels in beta? Preposterous!
Stargrace talks about TSO raiding in EverQuest 2 and makes me feel a little bad about myself! 1 to 67 in a single weekend?! What am I doing wrong? I managed to get a few levels in but that is just crazy! In all seriousness though Stargrace is a wealth of EQ2 information and a wonderful read.
Chris takes a moment to do an early review of Aion. He seems quite positive about it and offers some good insight. I still say I’ve had enough PvP focused MMOs!
Frank reviews MMO reviews on Overly Positive. He makes the insane suggestion that fanboys MMO players shouldn’t get upset when their game gets a bad review. Blasphemy! Negative information could somehow impact my play experience! Right?
Syp does a stellar job of comparing Champions Online to City of Heroes! Anyone who is thinking of making the jump should read this article.
Spinks talks about how hard it can be to motivate raiders in general (and in this case WoW). I always enjoy hearing how other raid/guild leaders handle things and there is some solid advice here.
Tesh attacks my reader with a huge wall of text regarding magic in MMOs. This is an awesome piece of literature that I really suggest reading when you have a moment.
I know that a lot of current day MMO gamers have no idea who Furor is but many of us “old folks” remember him (either fondly or not). Wolfshead took the time to do a story about what Furor is up to these days. Check it out!
Tobold is looking to start a discussion about MMOs that seems quite interesting to me. How do we feel about the pacing of the games we play. Join in over at his blog.
Hopefully those articles will keep you all entertained long enough for me to finish mine! Once more I am sorry for the delay and it has absolutely nothing to do with the bonus experience that Brenlo gave out on EQ2 this weekend. Honest!
Consider discussing “Monday MMO Mooching” on the new Epic Slant Forum!

Mwahaha! Alphabetical minions, ATTACK!
Thanks for the link.
It probably should be noted that I’m talking about magic not just in MMOs, but in any game design. It’s just easy to point to MMOs as a place where magic has become mundane.
