I am a bit late in noticing this but Jess has been taking feedback on the high end dungeons of Warhammer Online. It is good to see requests for feedback as this has been something I’ve been writing about for months now. She has compiled a list of things that have been sent over to development and most of them are pretty solid. You can read the whole post on the public forums but here are some of the things I picked out.
Bastion Stair :
Overall Difficulty – Difficulty concerns as voiced by some players
I’ve said it many times and I’ll say it again: Bastion Stair is overly difficult for the reward. I’m not saying the content is hard. I’m just saying that the difficulty vs reward is quite skewed. Revising that some might bring more people back into the dungeon.
Lost Vale:
Horgulul – Flying demons mass-aggroing issue reported and investigation requested
Sechar – “Encounter in Progress” bug has been reported and investigation has been requested
Mounts/Respawn Points – This has been passed along before, but we reiterated how much the community would value the ability to use mounts in Lost Vale or be able to respawn at deeper points within the dungeon via an NPC (such as the Everqueen).
I cannot emphasis enough how happy I am to hear about these fixes. The demons aren’t that bad but the whole issue with an encounter staying locked once you’ve all died is ridiculous. Re-clearing the already long dungeon for no reason isn’t very thrilling. Putting closer re-spawn points in place is also something I’ve harped about a lot. Ultimately I think all of these potential changes will go a long way in making Lost Vale seem less like a chore and more like the exciting dungeon it is intended to be.
General High-End Dungeon Feedback:
Lock-out Timers – Concerns about the current high-end dungeon lock-out timers addressed and passed along to the appropriate teams; also, issues with lock-out timers after disconnects/crashes reported and investigation requested
Loot System/Itemization – Concerns about the current high-end dungeon loot system and itemization addressed and passed along to the appropriate teams
This is the real bulk of the changes I’m concerned with. Who hasn’t had someone go link dead at the absolute worst time in Lost Vale and essentially lost your once in a five day clear opportunity? Why is it necessary for every single little boss to update that lockout timer? Is it so important to stop people from swapping players out and in to maximize their chance of getting a piece of Darkpromise? No, honestly it isn’t. Lost Vale already takes longer than necessary to gear out people. Some folks are lucky but a whole lot more aren’t.
I’m also hoping they’ll look at the Darkpromise sets and upgrade them. There is still too much “well rounding” out there and the sets are barely increases from their Sentinel counterparts. I understand that there is repairable gear in the dungeon now for the random bits but nobody really does LV for that loot. I don’t know how many times I’ve said it but simply put: no ward, no want.
It does make me very happy that Jess has done this. With any luck we’ll see some gradual turn around on the development side to make this content less annoying and more rewarding. Any changes in the PvE department are aces in my book though!
