Another Piece of the Puzzle?

Today I received a card from Mythic with a challenge for my readers and I to figure out what they’re planning!

The card is splattered in red with the shape of a heart. There is a black lipstick kiss on it and it reads:
Roses are Red,
Just like a squig herder,
I’ll hunt you down,
on the night of murder

Image here. I apologize for the poor quality of it. I used my phone and I just wanted to get the post up in case others received cards today too and a big puzzle is in progress!

My assumption is that the “Night of Murder” is Valentines day. I suppose a “slayer” could hunt someone down but that might be the wrong path to follow! This could be unrelated to classes and more about the event to come. The only other thoughts I have is that witch hunters and elves hunt people down. Who better to wear black lipstick than dark elves?

The back of the card has a 7 and 6/13. (Update: I assume it is a 7. It is how I write 7s but others have letters)

Curious, to say the least!

Update now that I’m awake!

As anticipated other bloggers have recieved cards!

Rainbow MMO, KeenWerit, and Asuryan’s Flames have recieved cards thus far. That seems to be 5 out of the 13 we can expect! There are also some thoughts as to the background behind this over on Wizards and Wenches. Check it out! More to come as we learn about it.

Update number two since I’ve arrived home!

Many of you have requested pictures of the reverse of the card to explain the “7.” So, to hopefully help in the mystery I rushed home and snapped these photos of it. One and Two. Popular opinion says “t” which bears out if you look closely at the other “ts” on the note!

Update three

More letters are arriving which leaves the list almost complete. Below you’ll find the current, up to date, list!

2. T – Stylish Corpse
3. N – /random
4. I – Rainbow MMO
6. T – Epic Slant
7. N – LAGwar
8. L – Tome of Knowledge
9. V – Keen & Graev
10. L – Fires of WAR
11. R – Werit
12. A – Asuryan’s Flames

Could it be Friday the 13th, which would be in March? They could announce the Slayer and Choppa on the 29th and then launch them on Friday the 13th, which is the night of murder and horror… Just a thought. :P

  2. Jeg says:

Nevermind. February has a Friday the 13th too, lol. So yeah, I bet the classes launch of February 13th (since most of the big wigs at Mythic probably have Saturdays off).

I got one too! Only thing that’s really throwing me off now is the 7 on your card… I thought it was going to spell a word?

Hah! Very cool. They asked for my mailing address too.. wonder if there’s something on its way to me as well. Either way, I’m loving the blogger relations folks at Mythic right now — great job they’re doing.

just a thought but if you play the warhammer fantasy table top or RPG, or read the novels for that matter, the night of murder is an event from the fluff, happens every year, the witch elves hunt down anyone they can find and drag them back to there keeps to bathe in their blood

I think the code is that there are 13 letters. Everyone has a number in the format of X/13 – there would be 13 cards sent, and each one of them has a letter or number correlating to a 13 letter word… Or the letters/numbers are all part of an anagram – and the numbers are just asserting the ‘authenticity’ similar to a numbered print. At any rate, look for 13 letters/numbers. NIce..

From the clues I am wondering if the Witch Elf is gonna get a male counterpart the Adept of Khaine? My reason for thinking that is from the valentine that at the end was signed “Which Elf?”

    —————————————————————-
The holiest time of the year for Dark Elves is Death Night. During this night the Witch Elves rule the streets of the Dark Elf cities, capturing anyone they find (whether they are slaves or Dark Elves) and dragging them back to the temples as sacrifice to Khaine. The Witch Elves will even go so far as to break into houses, which has led to Dark Elf families barricading windows and doors during this night. On Death Night, the Witch Elves will also steal away a number of children. Girls captured like this will be trained to become Witch Elves. Boys are tossed in a cauldron of boiling blood. Those that survive are trained to be true adepts of Khaine: the feared assassins. As dawn breaks after Death Night, it is customary for those who lived through the night to make a sacrifice from their own household (usually a favoured slave or elderly relative) as a thanks to the Lord of Murder for sparing their family.

Wonder if this will have something to do with their event.

The 2 popular answers are that it spells (backwards in both cases)

War Event Hints (13 letters and matches what we have so far)

    and

    War Event Ninth (same thing)

I’m leaning towards a War evet starting Monday the 9th of February going thru Friday the 13th (Night of Murder) and all tieing in with Valentines day the 14th explaining the LOVELY valentines you all got.

    Just my opinion.

  30. Alm says:

The night of murder seems to be a separate event from those involving the expansion, and is dark elf related. Khaine being the lord of murder, they have a once-yearly night of murder where (traditionally according to novels) they throw unwanted babies into a giant boiling cauldren, from which the survivors become DoKs. The Witch Elves being “brides of Khaine” and the lead priestesses is why there is a picture of a witch elf everywhere. Just some fun lore, or so I thought.
